From the 1944 musical Meet Me in St. Louis, this is the original performance of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas". The music is composed by Hugh Martin, the lyrics by Ralph Blane. Judy Garland is trying to console Margaret O'Brien's character after they have learned the family is leaving their beloved home of St. Louis for New York City in the coming days.

Another piece of trivia: these original lyrics contain, "From now on, we'll have to muddle through somehow"... some later versions replaced this with the lyrics, "hang a shining star upon the highest bough" to pick it up a little bit. If you go through the entire original lyrics (without the eventual deletions, it's a little more despondent a Christmas song than you'd like it to be).
