  • FAVOURITE ART

I was inspired by Linda's Dedication for paintings,
to make this thread where you can post your favourite art and your own work.

Since Man created the first cave paintings, we have had the desire to describe our World, life and emotions.
in paintings, drawings, carvings and sculpture.

Please share your favourite art or your own creations here!

This is a wonderful idea for a thread Jenny.

I wish you the best of luck with it.

There is an unlimited supply of wonderful paintings and drawings to choose from.

Here is one from a favorite artist of mine known as the "painter of light" :Thomas Kincade

Thank you all for sharing your Masterpiece favourites.

They demonstrate what diverse forms art can take.

From a stunning seascape to fascinating pixel art.

The infamous botched restoration of Ecce Homo,

the graffiti art of Banksy and the ethereal image of Thomas Kincade.

It maybe begs the famous question - What is art?

              Is this art?

              Or someone having a laugh?

              What do you guys think?

Is this hung in a museum?

                An art studio?

I know that art is always open to interpretation....

and everyone has their own opinion on it.

There are many sculptures that look like a pile of junk

that sell for crazy amounts of money.

People are also very susceptible to ideas when given something to think about.

I have no real answer to your question....

but if this were simply a joke and people were told it was a famous

work of art, many would believe just that.

This must have been a joke!

Maybe they wanted to see who would be so naive,

to believe that this was a true painting.

Art is anything anyone can imagine and then can create it.

                  For example:

Wow! That guy is so clever Kostas!
I couldn't make out what he was creating until right at the end.

Thanks for the beautiful horse study Amazed.
I didn't know this artist, but I love the equine works of Stubbs too.

That winter sky is lovely Linda.
I always buy Christmas cards with this sort of scene!

                        * * *

For the Black canvas, I agree with you both.
I can't think of it as art either.

I think the artist is just enjoying fooling people
with something that anyone could make.

It is wonderful to come here to see all the amazing paintings.

                                  Very nice idea Jenny !

                                    I agree with you Linda,

there are some paintings though, I would not put in the beautiful group.

                                    Jackson Pollock

Would you hang this on your livingroom walls?

I am not a fan of this artist at all....

and I would not hang one of his paintings on my wall....

no matter how much it may be worth.

I am sure there are many who like his art, but it is not for me.

Thank you for your support and kind words Linda and Kostas,
and thank you all for sharing your images.

I agree with your thoughts on the Jackson Pollock.
It is not to my taste, yet his works remain incredibly popular.

What do you think of this proposed sculpture?
It will be the 40 metre high,

                                        "Man of Steel"

He will be set on a plinth overlooking Sheffield's traditional
                                        steel-making area.

I am glad that they are honouring our industrial heritage,
but not sure whether I like the rendering of the sculpture.
