Sorry Nela, its too much hassle to do what i wanted to do. I have about 7 or 8 images i wanted to post regarding our country flags, but i also wanted to do a little write up on them also. The only way i could do that properly is if i could upload straight from my PC, which i cant do. If i could do it the way i wanted, it would only take about 10 minutes to get it done, but doing it the way the site will only let me do it will add about 40 minutes onto that. This is the main reason why i stopped posting for a while. Tetsumonchi

The nine stripes represent the number of syllables in the Greek phrase,

Eleutheria H Thanatos, which means: "Freedom or Death,"

which was a battle cry during the final revolt against the Ottoman Occupation.

                The equal-armed cross depicts the
                Greek Orthodox church.

                              .
                              .
                              .

This is my New York State Flag that shows the state coat of arms.

The goddess Liberty holds a pole with a Liberty Cap on

top - Liberty stands for freedom. At her feet is a discarded crown,

representing freedom from England at the end of the

revolutionary war. On the right is the goddess, Justice. She wears

a blindfold and carries the scales of justice.

Meaning that everyone receives equal treatment under the law.

The state motto "Excelsior" on a white ribbon

expresses the idea of reaching upward to higher goals.

On the shield a sun rises over the Hudson highlands and ships

sail the Hudson river. Above the shield is an

eagle resting on a globe representing the Western Hemisphere.

The Tri-colour of Green, white and orange is known as our modern day flag. But Ireland had a national flag long before the Tri-colour.

The original flas was as seen below.

Then along came our current national flag, the Irish Tri-colour

Its a long story, but you read up a little about it on the following link:

I want to keep this -

                                  and this

but the way things are going will end up with this.

Sadly loosing both of the top two.
