  • Wish we could determine if opponent has their chat muted

I wish we could determine if opponent has chat muted or not. Reason being....there are a few people I will chat bomb... typically saying "In your face!" after almost every shot. And obviously if their chat is muted, I wouldn't then bother with it.

I encourage others to do this, btw. If the opponent makes a slop shot, then do In Your Face! or You Sure Are Lucky! And if they do it again, start spamming them with it. Same applies if they start riding the 9.

    My chat is always muted.
I found it is used to distract and tease, so thanks but no thanks.
There are a few polite and friendly players who wish you good luck at the beginning of the game and I am sorry but they are the minority.
It gives me added pleasure that the teasers and distractors don't even know that I cannot even see their stupidities.
Good! Insult at your pleasure, I cannot see you !

I always leave my chat on...... It makes the game more entertaining, just wish they would incorporate audio chat as well.

chat does make the game more entertaining forsure.....but audio chat...oh god noooo. I'd prolly keep that off. I dont wanna hear people just screaming slurs, random bullshit background noise, or playing random loud noises lol. but i guess it would lowkey funny sometimes.

I turned my chat off for a long while years back, only turning it on when playing occasional forum members. Now that they have the mute option, I leave my chat on and simply mute the idiots who continually try to distract; as soon as I see someone starting to spam aimed to tease or distract you get muted. Most of the time I don't have to do this, but that occasional fool pops up and it must be done.

Noooo to audio chatting! There is a Snooker game I play on IOS (was on Android too, but I can't find it in Play Store anymore, pretty good game actually) where you can talk to your opponents. I don't use that as I do not want to talk to anyone, but there were some players just saying hello and nice shot and all that, which was cool I guess. Problem is, the majority just play sound effects the entire time or porn audio, so I have to turn my volume all the way down which is rather annoying. Be thankful Miniclip does not have audio chatting!
I play mobile... Android mainly, but sometimes on my iPhone...
Got a newer tablet finally! Trying to re-learn how to play :-))

Yes, the chat meant to distract and running the clock down are two of the most annoying features of the game.
Unfortunately there is not much one can do against players who run down the clock.
I do it back to them and I go into "dirty" play mode, snookering on purpose and laying the cue ball just next to the ball to be played, preferable against a cushion.
I think they get the message.

All great points. I agree with most of them. I'm not as ambitious as Ryan Cawdor and continually berate my opponent in hopes they miss. I figure most players unless they're newbies have figured out how to mute. So continually saying in your face would be a fruitless exercise. But as Two Shoes said, those chat packs and the newer face emojiis make the game more fun... for me it's when i play my friends. Those emojiis and chats really do enhance the game so for those reasons I give Miniclip a thumbs up! Because if you want to use them they're there and if you don't, there's the mute or Turn off chat completely in options.

Now those chat packs are pretty entertaining as well. Of course the better ones aren't free but when I ran across the Star Wars ones, I just had to buy it. Being able to say "This isn't the ball you're looking for"... that was priceless!

But in the end, I'm with Deimos I keep mine turned off the majority of the time and turn it on only when I'm playing friends. But I am going to try what Deimos said and keep it on but just mute ppl if they start to annoy me.

Oh and audio? Interesting but yeh, that's prob way too distracting. Just the way chat is now is ACTUALLY a time consumer. Meaning it takes me seconds to scroll thru to find a chat line so that takes away from my countdown clock. Maybe audio chat in a "lounge" room or holding room when you're not playing, but not during the game unless you have the ability to use a headset?!? Now we're talking like console or pc gaming!
