Welcome!
This thread contains all information about ranks, levels, bonusses and experience points.
It hopes to provide you with all the necessary information, and help you to estimate how long it will take to reach a certain level or rank.

First of all, you need to know that since December 11, 2012 the ranking system is no longer based on skill, but on experience points (XP).
Basically the more you play, the higher your rank will be. Different amounts of XP are added depending on whether you win or lose a match, and what type of match you have played.
You cannot lose experience points.

Experience Points to be earned

• There are currently 8 Pool bars available to play in all around the world. The different amounts of XP to be earned are all listed below. As of January 22, 2013 these were decreased with about 33%.

Additional information and patterns:
 --> Each time your rank increases, you need to complete 1 extra level to achieve the next rank! So far only the rank of King seems to be extended by 1 level.

 --> The first 17 levels of XP do not seem to follow a simple pattern, except that they increase, but starting from level 18 the following equation seems to hold:
       XP needed to obtain level X+1 = 7,761.477 * 1.0265^X
       where X is your current level.

 --> Bonuses: You recieve some bonuses each time you go up 1 level: 50 Pool Coins are awarded for levelling up and you get 5 Power Ups every 5 levels, starting from level 3 and ending at level 98.
We are still uncertain about which Power-Ups are rewarded at quite some levels, so please feel free to add or correct!

• Lastly, I will explain how to estimate the number of matches you have to play to reach a certain level.
  
  Step 1: Check your personal win percentage.
  Step 2: Take the XP's listed in the first section from your favorite Pool Bar!
  Step 3: Find the amount of experience points you need to reach your goal (section 2 of this thread might be very useful for that!)
  Step 4: Calculate
  
  Matches TBP = XP Needed / (XPwin*Win% + XPloss*(1-Win%))
  (TBP = to be played to earn a certain amount of XP)
  
  For example:
  
  Step 1: 72.4% = 0.724
  Step 2: Moscow Winter Club 1 vs 1, so 360 XP for a win and 72 XP for a loss
  Step 3: XP Needed = 59,696 - 23,596 = 36,100 to reach level 79
  Step 4: Matches TBP = 36,100 / (360*.724 + 72*(1-.724)) = 129 matches to reach level 79.
  
  Example 2:
  Step 3: XP Needed = 1,752,253 - 23,596 = 1,728,657 to reach level 100
  Step 4: Matches TBP = 1,728,657 / (360*.724 + 72*(1-.724)) = 6163 matches to reach level 100.
  
  So to be clear: I will have to play 129 matches to reach the next level or 6163 to reach level 100.
  Not games won, matches played!

I have now found a level 79 player, and compared the XP needed.
The ratio is not a constant, so perhaps a propartional amount is added each time.
I will need 3 XP needed in a row to establish that (preferably of levels as high as possible for accuracy, but low ones will do too I hope)

because I can't seem to observe it anymore
I also updated the lay-out a bit.

- distablish some more rank levels
- figure out if playing with a friend gives experience points
- and most importantly, find the formula for experience points needed to reach the next level!
I really need the requirements for at least 3 levels in a row, please help me with that if you find a missing one!
Someone who was planning on starting over with an alternate account would be very helpful

NEW: I discovered the pattern of the rank levels: Each time your rank increases, you need to complete 1 extra level to achieve the next rank!


But it seems that the experience point formula is a lot less consistent than I expected.
With your help I've already gathered quite some information,
but I haven't been able to figure out 1 single pattern, does somebody else see something I don't?
I now begin to wonder whether there will be a formula afterall.
But if there isn't, that list will do just fine I guess

example - so when i go up to level 79 (59,696 points) do i start from zero again or only need to go from 59,696 to 61,278 to get to level 80?

You start from zero. I am pretty sure.
I've seen a few people on level 80, that only have a few points.

Here's a plot of what we got so far.
It seems to be a very strange curve,
and not one from which I can derive a formula or even fit a simple (2nd order polynomial, exponential, ...) function through.



I will try again later with even more data,
and devide the curve into sections for each rank and see what that gives.
For now it still seems semi-random.

i've figured out the experience points for the next levels, let me show you with an example...

so to get from 49 -> 50 will be 27238+703+20 = 27961 points
and then...

However, the sheer volume of games that must now be played in order to progress from Rank to Rank (i.e. named ramk not the new Point steps) is now so very large that I can guarantee that the number of regular players will drop.   Folks will lose interest.

After a post here, a day or two before the update by miss morris, I played back to Grand Master and then didn't play again until after the update.
3 wins I think it was to get back after I dropped to master, now the difference between 66 and 78 I think which depending on which level entry games played could equate to over 1000 games now.

The way how previous players skills were converted to new levels is absolutely stupid and unfair! It is clear for all really good players who had "master" status having lost a few games just before the conversion. It is clear that players with win ratio >60% and total games played >5000 can't be compared to some lucky amateurs who only had the "grand master" status at the moment of conversion (and win ratio ~51% for example) ! Can't beleive that they made such a stupid thing!
